“Thank God it’s Friday night. Cause. I ju-ju-ju-ju-just…GOT PAID!” I thought a little *NSYNC would serve us well in starting the weekend off on the best note possible. Can you believe that performance is nearly 12 years old?! Fast forward to 3:15 – it’s actually really amazing. JT is so insanely talented. And sooo insanely beautiful. What?
Breakfast
Today’s breakfast was an ode to our beloved pumpkin. I made a batch of overnight oats combining 1/2 cup oats, 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk, and 1 heaping Tbsp. of pumpkin butter. Along with my oats, I had an orange. Bonus: season one of Modern Family lingering in the background!
Lunch
After class, I headed home for the weekend. Before getting to the fun part of my day, though, homework had to be tackled. I have three exams coming up in the next couple of weeks, so I wanted to tackle a few smaller projects so I won’t have to worry about them when it comes time to focus on my studies.
Around 1:00, I took a break for a snack. Wraps were back in full action!
I took cabbage leaves and layered some hummus on the bottom before topping the leaves with cherry tomatoes, sliced orange pepper, and Veggie Patch falafel. These were so delicious! For a treat, I made myself a cup of hot cocoa in my favorite mug. In my humble opinion, Lake Champlain is the best organic, fair-trade certified unsweetened hot cocoa out there. It’s a bit pricey at $10 per container but I’ve had it for almost a year now and it has held its own.
Mind.Body.Barre
Remember the show Making the Video from MTV? I used to watch it all the time after school. I vividly remember being so enamored with the glitz and glamour, insane dance choreography, and seemingly perfect hair and make-up jobs on the likes of Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez. I was too focused on those aspects to think about the long hours and hard work that was put into all of it. Tonight, I got a little taste of my own real-live Making the Video, only on a smaller scale.
There’s some exciting news I’ve been wanting to tell you but I wanted to wait until the idea reached full fruition. Matty is filming a couple of informational/promotional videos for Mind.Body.Barre! For those of you that are new to the blog (Hi!), Matty is a videographer. Angela, the incredible owner of MBB, and I have been toying around with this project for quite some time and we were so excited to finally hit the ground running! We really want people to see how amazing MBB is as a mind-body workout and want to be careful to avoid the “gimmicky” aspect that promotional videos can portray.
I really am so passionate about this studio and so incredibly honored to be a part of it. Mind.Body.Barre is hands-down the best workout I have ever done. The emphasis on the mind-body connection of exercise is so important and it is so rare to find a workout that encompasses that. Once I am out of school, I can’t wait to dive head-first with Angela to make our dreams come true!
Stay lovely,
Heather
Question of the Day: What is your favorite workout?

I can’t wait to see the video and learn more about mind.body.barre!
Aww, Kim, you’re so sweet. Thanks love!
Yummy eats! I’m soo looking forward to the video!
Thanks Shannon! Can’t wait for you to see it.
Wow I can’t wait for the video! That is a beautiful photo of you all – I want to take a class! I live in Andover MA (not too far away). My favorite workout would have to be power yoga or my Jillian Micheals DVD (haha the second one feel so much less poetic than the first). I really love being active outside (riding my bike, hiking, swimming, walking all over Boston). Keep up the posts – I love them! Oh and that hot chocolate looks killer!
Wow, thank you so much Sarah! We would LOVE for you to take a class with us. You are so sweet. Thank you so much for reading and commenting …made my day.
Wraps look delicious.. You all look great and most of all seems that all are enjoying the experience.
Can’t wait to see the video and any future add-ons.
My favorite workout is a hockey game (Tuesday Night). Nothing beats a two plus mile run with my 3 pounders doing a boxer/martial arts run
Keep smiling – Dad
Love you, dad. You helped me to love exercise and be creative with it. You’re a bad@$$. Heh.
Hi! I just found your blog and I already love it!! Your eats look delicious and I can’t wait to read more about the new studio/video you’re working on! I’ve taken a ballet barre class before and it kicked my butt!
Wheee! Kara, you’re so lovely and adorable. I’m so ecstatic that you found my blog. I can’t wait to read yours either.
