Tone It Up

November 21, 2011 by Heather

Happy Monday, my lovelies! Who else is pumped for the short week ahead of us? I know that I am waiting with baited breath for Wednesday at 10:30 a.m, when I get to head home and get cooking for Thanksgiving! Stay tuned for the complete Thanksgiving menu. It’s going to be a good one!

If you took a blog-cation this weekend, here is what you missed in Kale land:

So, I was a brilliant little lass…and forgot my memory card at home. Alas, breakfast and lunch went undocumented. BOO stinking HOO. Luckily, Matty came up tonight and graciously picked up my memory card. He’s my hero.

I’ll skip right to dinner…since breakfast and lunch went undocumented.

Dinner

Tonight, we hit up one of Matty’s favorite restaurants in the area: La Carreta. The first time we went here, Matty couldn’t stop raving about it. I thought it would be nice to head over there tonight to please his senses and switch things up a bit!

Just as Matty pulled out my memory card to snap photos of our meals, I realized that I forgot my camera. Really, Heather? Oy vay. So, you’re getting some shots courtesy of Matty’s camera phone (mine is awful).

I ordered a tossed salad topped with guacamole, black beans, and medium salsa. It was delightful!

Matty rolled with the enchilada mole poblano, which was basically a chicken enchilada topped with a mole sauce and chopped onions. Despite the fact that it resembles vomit, he raved about it. Mission accomplished.

During dinner, Matty and I had some interesting conversations. For instance, we concluded that Stud-net.com would be an ideal name for a “meat head” web site. Are we in agreement here? ;-)

Tone It Up

As a nutrition student and health fanatic, I like to think that I am a knowledgeable source for all things nutrition. Friends, family, and clients at Mind Body Barre often ask me what to eat and how to eat it. I’ve got it down and I’ve been able to lead a lifestyle that’s made me thrive! Check and check.

The fitness area, however, is definitely something I’m not as well-versed in (i.e. exactly what to eat pre and post workout) because that’s not what I’m going to school for. I haven’t been seeing the progress that I’ve been hoping to see in the gym. Having been strength training for a year now, I’m pleased with my diligence, but not the results. I’ve been craving a change. What’s a girl to do?

This girl decided to purchase the Tone It Up lifestyle plan. For those of you that don’t know, Tone It Up is comprised of two lovely ladies, Karena and Katrina, two certified personal trainers/nutrition coaches/lifestyle coaches with an incredible energy and fervor for life. So, pretty much, they have my dream career. We would so be biffles. ;-)

Their videos are amazing and keep you focused and excited to build the healthiest body possible from the inside out. It’s a steep investment for me but something that I believe will be well worth my time in an effort to see more progress with my workouts. Also, every Monday, I’ll have a special “Tone It Up” section, detailing how I’m feeling and the results I’m getting. I’m so excited to start my journey today and apply what I learn to my current lifestyle!

NOTE: I AM NOT ON A DIET! Diet=deprivation, and this is anything but deprivation! I am looking to increase muscle mass and am reaching out to experts in the fitness field to help me achieve those goals in a healthy way.

Stay lovely,

Heather

I actually just heard of ToneItUp and looked at their blog a little bit but I couldn’t figure out if it was a nutrition plan or workout dvd’s…you’ll have to fill me in! Good luck with it :)

It’s a combination of nutrition/fitness. Like I said, my diet isn’t an issue, so I’m using it for fitness-related things like pre- and post-workout fuel and extra workout tips. :-) Thanks for the luck, Jenny, you’re so sweet!!!
