Good afternoon! It feel so good to be back in the swing of things today.
Workout
I started Monday off on a high note with this KILLER workout from last week. I was a schweaty swamp beast when it ended – just the way I like it.
I also listened to the same playlist. I typically get bored on the exercise bike for that long and need a magazine to help keep me preoccupied. Not today. I was in the zone and loved just letting go and breaking a sweat to the music!
Breakfast
After a good stretch and a quick shower, I got back into some comfy clothes and made a simple, delicious breakfast.

I popped two slices of Ezekiel bread into the toaster before smearing one slice with organic, creamy peanut butter and the other with Earth Balance. Also enjoyed was a crisp Fuji apple and an unpictured mug of pumpkin spice coffee. Over breakfast, my mom and I watched Inside the Actor’s Studio featuring the Modern Family cast. What a good thing that was. James Lipton has a way of reaching actors and getting them to spill their guts. It’s so interesting to get to know actors outside of their characters on TV.
Lunch
After breakfast, I tackled day two of blog homework and it was a success! You can now view any of my previous posts via a categorized drop-down menu at the bottom right of the toolbar. I’ve been wanting to do this for awhile but it was such a monstrous task (took me two days!) that I knew it would be smarter to save it until Winter break. Now, my posts won’t be lost in the abyss. Woo hoo! That task took me up until lunch time. Or, in this case, until my tummy started gurgling.
Lunch was put together in no time, thanks to leftovers from yesterday. I took two of the Tone It Up black bean patties and placed them on a bed of kale topped with cherry tomatoes, sliced avocado, and salsa!
After I took this picture, I realized how skimpy the avocado looked. Come on, Heather! I added a few extra thick slices for good measure. Then, I mushed it all together to create a “creamy” Mexican feast in my mouth. It was divine.
Sticking to a Routine
Every semester and college break, I sit down and make a list of goals I want to accomplish and then compile them into a routine. They can be small goals like waking up at 7:00 a.m. to workout or bigger ones like tackling blog homework. To me, it feels so good to have goals laid out for yourself…to stretch your limits a bit and feel accomplished! So far, so good.
I don’t know about you, but I’m big on routines because they help me stay focused on achieving my goals. They also keep me organized. When the holidays roll around, I welcome the switch in routine, though. It’s nice to break yourself out of it! Now that Christmas weekend has come and gone, it feels good to get back into my routine for the week.
Regardless of that fact that Christmas has come and gone, Christmas music will continue to be part of my routine for at least the next week. Maybe longer. I can’t get enough! Plus, Christmas isn’t officially over until after the feast of the epiphany on January 3!
Okay, I have to go get ready for work. Then, I’m meeting up with my friend Wendy, who is in from Brazil until Thursday, and some of our girlfriends. Arrrrriba!
Stay lovely,
Heather
Question of the Day: Are you a fan of routines? How do you keep yourself accountable?

I actually love routines, especially when it comes to exercising (about the same time every morning works best for me) and eating (my tummy is happiest when I stick to a rough ‘schedule’!)
I am a routine making fanatic! Every night before I go to bed I make a list on my comp of everything I need to do the next day and schedule out my day to a T. It might sound a little crazy but it keeps me organized and that way I know I will accomplish everything I need to get done! I love the idea of setting out goals for the semester. Usually I do year long goals but semester goals seem much more attainable.
I don’t think it’s crazy! It keeps us sane. And our loved ones will thank us for that. Haha!
