New Vlog: How to Make Chocolate Protein Pudding Oats!

April 20, 2012 by Heather

It’s Friday! Woo hoo! I hope your day was fantastic and that your weekend is off to an even more fantastic start. It is absolutely gorgeous outside and I’m feeling so grateful for this summer-like weather!

Workout

Every time I walk into the gym, I can’t help but smile. Yes, I look forward to my morning workout, but there’s something else that brings a goofy grin to my face. Without fail, I can guarantee that Boy Meets World will be playing on the TV above the cardio machines. My favorite part of this scenario is the fact that no one ever changes the TV station. I mean, who doesn’t love that show? This means that Boy Meets World kind of unites all  of us early morning gym-goers in a small way! Did I take that too far? Don’t care.

Yup – gets me every time. Who else misses TGIF?!

Anywho, back to the workout! Today, I completed the Throwback Thursday challenge for the Tone It Up Bikini Series: the Bikini Strap Workout! This circuit fit in perfectly with my planned Friday workout because today is chest day. Love that workout! After some iron pumping, I cooled down with some light cardio on the arc trainer. Forty minutes later, I was ready to take on the day!

Lunch

Matty and I were hard at work today, filming the vlog for you all afternoon. Actually, it was mostly Matty – he’s the former film studies major. When we finished, we sat down to enjoy some lunch. He made himself a naan pizza while I put together a mish-mosh of things that turned out amazingly well.

Don’t you love when that happens? :-)

To make the above dish, I put some frozen broccoli florets into a skillet with olive oil cooking spray, garlic powder, and curry powder. I stir fried the broccoli for about 6 minutes, removed it from the heat, and mixed it with some shredded carrots, 1/3 avocado, and about 1/2 cup organic tofu. I topped it with a delicious and easy dressing made with 1 Tbsp. nutritional yeast and 2 Tbsp. Annie’s Organic Papaya Poppyseed dressing. Not bad for a last minute meal, huh?

New Vlog: How to Make Chocolate Protein Pudding Oats!

On Wednesday, when I asked if you would like a vlog on how to make protein pudding oats, I was so excited when many of you responded, “Yes!” Well, what you request, you shall receive, my friends. So, let’s do it! Let’s talk about what protein is, why I consume protein powder, and – most importantly – how to make chocolate protein pudding oats (aka the best breakfast ever).

If you make some of your own, Tweet, Facebook, or email (heather@fortheloveofkale.com) me your pictures of chocolate protein pudding oats. It will be a fun way for us to share the love!

Stay lovely,
Heather

I’m laughing that I used to have a crush on Ryder Strong (and that I remember his name)!

  4. I loved all the great info about protein at the beginning of the video. Hmm… I’m thinking of getting some protein powder now :-)

    • Heather says:

I’m glad you enjoyed the protein info, Diana! I was a little worries people might get bored, so it’s nice to hear that. You should TOTALLY get some. You won’t regret it. :-)

  5. Maddy says:

Heather! That was such a great video. You’re so poised and well spoken! Just a quick question, do you know about what the measurement would be for the oats? I’m bad at eyeballing on my first try at something, thanks! :)

    • Heather says:

Brittany! Stawwwp it. I saw the Life’s Basics vanilla on your blog a little while ago. What do you think of the vanilla flavor?

  13. Lorie says:

I really admire you. I want to get motivated and make time to exercise and I find it quite challenging. Any tricks to help get out of this bad pattern.

    Thanks!

    • Heather says:

      Hi Lorie!

My number one tip is to get up 30-40 minutes early and do SOMETHING! It is the best way to start your day, improve your mood, and boost your metabolism for the day. Try 15 minutes of cardio followed by a ZWOW workout, one of mine, or a Tone it Up routine. You CAN do this! :-)

  14. Erica says:

i hope you do get this comment seeing as this post was a while back but first of all, i love how all of your posts are about boy meets world! i love that show! and you better believe that when i am up that early, i quickly turn on abc family and watch the show i wish they would play at a more reasonable hour! lol! anyway, i found you awhile back when you mentioned your blog on the tiu community and i have always been checking it here and there every since. thank you for your inspiration and workouts & recipes, your the best!

  16. Bee says:

If u cook with protein powder (like as seen in some of the protein pancake/muffin recipes), doesn’t it denature/destroy the protein and amino acids?

  17. Bee says:

DO u let this soak overnight? I’ve seen people soak oats overnight, but am not sure what the reason for soaking the oats is…does this “sprout” the oats? Can u soak/sprout oats with almond milk and pro powder mixed in or must it be water?

Have u tried this with Sun warrior Warrior Blend or Rice blend? Or with the Tone it Up protein powder?

    thanks!
