Three Questions

April 13, 2012 by Heather

Happy Friday, friends! I’m blogging to you from Wildflour today, as Matty and I’s tradition is back with full force. It’s a gorgeous day out; the sun is shining and the atmosphere is so calm. It kind of feels like home here. That might have something to do with the fact that everyone here knows us by name. Hehe!

Workout

I spent last night at the newspaper, copy editing the news section with the news team, and didn’t return until almost 11:30 p.m. I was tired and wired at the same time. So weird how that happens. That being said, I got to sleep kind of late, so I decided to sleep in. My bod pod woke me up around 7:45 a.m., at which point I decided to hit the gym! My legs were quite sore from yesterday’s workout, so I decided to do some light cardio to get them loose. I began with 10 minutes on the StairMaster and 10 minutes on the arc trainer before walking over to one of the nearby exercise rooms to complete the 300 rep ab challenge. Um, yeah. My abs were crying. Thankfully, I had Drake to keep me going.

YOLO.

I don’t think it’s possible for me to get sick of “The Motto.” Errday, errday. ;-)

Lunch

After the gym, I made my way back to my dorm room, where I worked on an assignment for my computer applications class while watching LIVE! with Kelly. Pretty solid morning, if I do say so myself. Before my one and only class of the day, Kristen and I hit up the dining commons for lunch.

There were crispy griddled plantains on the menu today, and I was so excited to try them! With a touch of sea salt, they tasted like a healthified and slightly denser version of a potato chip. I also munched on cinnamon baked navy beans and a side salad with Italian dressing. Hit the spot! Side note: Navy beans are called navy beans because they were a staple food for Navy servicemen in the 1800s! I guess it’s fun facts Friday.

After a quick lunch, I went to class and hopped in the car. I was homeward bound with a four-day weekend on my brain. Smiles all around!

Three Questions

I was sipping on raw coconut water and Matty was reading his book when Rob, the owner of Wildflour, came over to us to chat about the cafe’s new wall art.

Last night, Robert told us, the staff had a meeting and they were discussing Wildflour’s new mission statement. He asked them three questions, had them write one-word answers to each of the questions on post-its, and displayed them on the wall. He decided to leave them up, which was a really special thing to walk into. So much positivity!

Well, Robert turned the tables on Matty and I. He asked us the same three questions and had us post our answers on the opposite wall.

  • What is Wildflour?
      • Me: Love
      • Matty: Creative
  • What is unique about Wildflour?
      • Me: Honest
      • Matty: Menu
  • What does Wildflour do?
      • Me: Transcends
      • Matty: Inspires

Truth! We were so flattered to be the first of many customers to post these on the wall. There’s nothing like spreading the love about missions you truly believe in. Wildflour is certainly no exception to that! Naturally, I became inspired and thought it would be fun if we all asked each other the same three questions and showed ourselves some love. We deserve it!

I’ll go first!

  • Who is Heather?
      • CompassionateKaleLover
  • What is unique about Heather?
      • Career
  • What does Heather do?
      • Love

I like to think of myself as a compassionate human being…who breaks rules and makes up words. Deal with it! As for my career, I can just tell that it’s going to be very unique, and that excites me more than you know! With the last question, I don’t mean to sound pretentious. That being said, it is my goal. With everything I do and everyone I meet, I just want to spread love. After all, YOLO right?

Stay lovely,
Heather

Question of the Day: Answer the above three questions with ONE WORD answers. Try not to cheat like I did. Hehe!
