ZELLA Day of Movement Nationwide Fitness Event!

May 3, 2012 by Heather

Alright, peeps. It’s official: my very last day of classes as an undergrad was today! I feel kind of old? Just kidding. I’m so excited to graduate and get my life going! There is so much to look forward to. Those things called finals? We can just pretend they don’t exist. ;-)

Workout

This morning, I pushed my bod pod to the limit and it felt so good. Mmm mmm good, to be precise! I began with the MoJo Maker HIIT workout (thanks for the booty call, K&K!) on the cardio apparatus of death.

In all seriousness, the StairMaster isn’t death – but it really does challenge me like no other cardio machine. I’m going to miss it when I leave FSU! Yes, I’ll miss a cardio machine. I’m not normal. Anyways, after my cardio session, I was pleasantly exhausted and looked like a swamp beast. But I had a brand new abs routine to look forward to!

Do this routine and your beautiful abs will be singing your praises. Trust me. Remember that change is uncomfortable and keep pushing!

Lunch

I was literally glued to my laptop all afternoon, writing an article for my editorial workshop class. Around noon, I was hungry and decided to break for lunch. Instead of going down to the dining hall, I whipped up a quick salad in the comfort of my dorm room.

I went extra heavy on the mesquite today – hence the corny caption. Kale, baby carrots, avocado, nutritional yeast-crusted tofu, and mesquite made up this lovely little meal. That was it! Held me over for the entire afternoon, too. Win!

Dinner

The remainder of the afternoon was filled with more writing, in addition to the final class of my undergraduate career! Before I knew it, it was dinner time. Tonight’s dinner was darn delicious.

I kind of went veggie-crazy (no surprise there). To start, I made a salad with homemade BBQ slaw, which was essentially cabbage, chopped pickles, and a mustard vinaigrette. On the small plate, I enjoyed tofu and veggie skewers with avocado drizzle, chopped spinach, and grilled summer squash. To be honest, I wasn’t really feeling the salad so I stopped after a few bites. The rest was delicious, though!

ZELLA Day of Movement Nationwide Fitness Event

I have some fun and exciting news that all of us can benefit from!

This Saturday, courtesy of FitFluential, I will be attending the ZELLA Day of Movement Fitness Event at Nordstrom inside the Providence Place mall. I am so excited! Lucky for you, this is a nationwide event that anyone can attend! That means that anyone – yes you! – can head over to the ZELLA site and sign up for a morning of fitness fun! There will be free yoga and pilates classes, and Nordstrom Active Specialists will be on-hand to help attendees build their own ZELLA workout wardrobe.

I am seriously in love with ZELLA’s workout apparel, and you can bet your booty I’ve already orderd a ZELLA outfit to sport at the event! If you are a Rhode Island or Massachusetts resident and want to attend the event, sign up and shoot me an email! We can meet up, work up a sweat, and bond over fitness and fashion. It will be a blast!

Stay lovely,
Heather

Question of the Day: Check out the ZELLA online store! What’s your favorite apparel item? You’ll be seeing mine on Saturday! ;-)

I so wish I could go to Zella! But I have the Foodstock Conference tomorrow at Wesleyan with tons of amazing speakers and I just cannot miss it :)

Your dinner looks ahhh mazing. The avocado drizzle reminded me of little snakes (don’t kill me) visually but tastefully sounds amazing.

You know I love my Stair Master too. I did it last night!

Thanks for the ab workout, pinned per usual.

  2. Congrats on finishing classes and welcome to real world! :) Your meals looks so delicious from today!! What is mesquite?

Have so much fun this weekend at the Zella event. I wish I could attend but I am moving to Boston so my weekend will be veryyyy busy!! :)

Mesquite is a type of “rub” spice that is typically used on steaks. I love to sprinkle it in my salads and tofu scrambles. It has a salty, smoky flavor. So yummy! Wish you could be there tomorrow too!
