I’ve been seeing a lot of outward, body-related obsession lately – specifically on Instagram – and it makes me sad for others. We can chase physical attainments for the rest of our lives and we will only run ourselves in circles. It is only when we seek our truth and live with love that we achieve happiness.
Take today, for example.
If you’re a fellow East coaster, then you know that today’s weather has been absolutely stunning. It is the kind of weather that fills me with so much love, joy, and hope. It inspires me and floods my brain with peace and wild creativity all at once. The power of nature is truly amazing.
I’m a big fan of channeling my youth – and that’s just what Matty and I did today. We abandoned our work for two hours and basked in the day. Time, we are realizing, is a tricky thing. As I gently approach my mid-twenties, I’m realizing that I have less opportunities to take advantage of time. I’m spending time trying to make time to enjoy time. Confused yet? Today, we put time into making time our bitch.
I looked around the park, taking in all the sights, smells, and sounds.
We saw strangers chatting and laughing.
We saw big, aged trees with hundreds of branches. They shaded us from the warm and tender sun. I felt so safe underneath this particular one.
We came upon a misfit bench…
…and thought it could use a little love.
After said abandoned bench had enough of our vomit-inducing PDA, we ventured towards the most magical of all playground delicacies.
I giggled as I pumped higher and higher, my stomach doing a gentle flip as I swung my way towards the ground.
What made today so special was how we took the initiative to freeze time; to stop our days and just “be” together. We all need that. We need to stop thinking about what happens next; stop obsessing over this and that … and start creating our own happiness every day. Because we deserve it. We deserve to make every day one, big #jadorelavie moment.
Question of the Day: What was your j’adore la vie moment today?
