#HLS12 Part II: Swag Attack

August 22, 2012 by Heather

Well, my dears, it seems like another week is flying by. Is it really Wednesday? Has it really been four days since I left HLS? Oy vay.

Workout

This is the final week of my six-week self-made training program and, I have to say, I’m a little sad! I’ve fallen in love with my new workout routine but am also looking forward to coming up with a new bunch of supersets. FYI: you can find my current superset regimen here. Today, I completed the Surfer Girl workout from the Tone It Up Beach Babe DVD and followed it up with Amanda Russel’s 6-Minute Abs of Steel Workout. I’m telling you guys – this ab routine is incredibly effective. If you haven’t tried it already, get on it! You can do anything for six minutes!

Anywho, I woke up ready to conquer the day! Enter bathroom selfie.

Thanks to K&K for gifting me with my new Tone It Up tank! I made sure to wear it this morning. The above picture was obviously taken pre-workout. ;-)

Breakfast

Guess what’s back? Back again?

In full swing, my friends. Holla to chocolate-peanut flour protein pudding oats!

Lunch

My house is sparse in the food department because I haven’t been grocery shopping since last Monday. Whoops! So, today’s lunch was leftovers from yesterday’s dinner.

I simply combined the following in a bowl to create a big mass of deliciousness:

  • 1/4 cup dry quinoa, boiled for 10 minutes on medium-high heat and drained
  • 1/2 avocado, diced
  • 1/4 red repper, diced
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp. nutritional yeast
  • 1 Tbsp. salsa
  • 1  1/2 tsp. Mrs. Dash Southwest Chipotle seasoning
It took about 15 minutes in total to make and tasted wonderful, not to mention its stellar nutritional profile. If you’re short on time, I would totally recommend making this. I’d also recommend the addition of greens. 1 cup sauteed kale, perhaps? ;-)

Swag Attack

It wouldn’t be a blog event if there wasn’t an attack in the form of swag. It’s funny because I tend to forget about the vast amount product I may or may not receive at events like this so, when I do receive it, I’m always in total shock.

Thank you to all of the Healthy Living Summit sponsors for helping to make the event possible! Instead of showing you everything I got, I’m going to ramble on about my favorite items. Sound like a plan?

Reebok RealFlex Sneakers

Between HLS, #fitblognyc, and #RBKFITBLOG, I have successfully acquired four complimentary pairs of Reebok sneakers. That’s one pair of sneakers every month. Pinch me?

I love, love, love the new RealFlex sneakers! They’re super comfortable and keep my feet secured in place throughout my workout. Plus, they’re cute – and who doesn’t want rad color-schemed sneakers? Myself and the roughly 200 other bloggers wore our Reebok RealFlex sneakers for our CrossFit WOD and we all looked so colorful and snazzy while keeping our feet safe and sound. Thanks again to Reebok for being awesome.

Erewhon Buckwheat & Hemp Cereal

When I saw the new Attune Foods Erewhon Supergrains cereal that was bestowed upon us, I literally squealed like a 5-year-old child.

I love buckwheat! And I loooove hempPairing the two is akin to sweet potato wedges and ketchup. It just works. When I flipped over the box to take a glance at the ingredient list, I let out another child-like squeal. Organic Buckwheat, Organic Brown Rice, Organic Maple Syrup, Organic Hemp, Sea Salt. For months, I’ve been on the hunt for a cereal that has simple ingredients, is high in protein and fiber, is low in sugar, and has the ability to satiate me. I know – I’m a demanding consumer!

It’s been a battle. Until now! I am over-the-moon excited about this cereal. And, as Anne told me, we were the very first people to try this brand spankin’ new cereal. It was packaged for us last Wednesday. How cool is that?! VIP status, yo.

So far, I’ve enjoyed the cereal two ways. The first came Monday night with unsweetened almond milk for a late-night snack. Once in awhile, I specifically crave cereal for a pre-bedtime snack. Now I can enjoy it and know that my digestive tract will love me in return. This cereal maintains its crunch long after pouring the almond milk and never gets soggy!

I also enjoyed it as a snack today.

In a small dish, I tossed the cereal with almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, and hemp seeds. It powered me through the morning! Keep an eye out for the Erewhon Supergrains cereal exclusively at Whole Foods Markets next month!

Almond Breeze Coupons

Need I say more?

Free Almond Breeze – what, what?! I think we’ve already established the fact that we all love this stuff. ;-)

Driscoll’s Mini Strainer

I like cute things – and this strainer is darn cute. Thanks, Driscoll’s!

It not only drains water out from Driscoll’s berries and steamed veggies but it also serves as an excellent glasses holder for moi.

End scene.

Stay lovely,
Heather

  8. You take the best selfies of anyone I know.

One of the things I love about quinoa is that you can toss it up with a few different things and it is always delicious and healthy.

  9. I’ve been eating that Erewhon cereal for a night time snack too! Great minds. ;) I’m usually not a fan of flaky cereal (I hate how they get soggy), but I love this one!

  14. Caitlin says:

Hahaha the glasses holder use for the colander definitely deserves to be the last photo. My mom is going to give the colander to my fruit-addicted sister. Her new apartment could use it! Yes I can’t believe we have so many Reebok sneakers either. I was telling a reader I think these ones are the perfect medium of flexible between the Transitions and the ZigNanos! They seem a bit more supportive than the Transitions. Ahh I can’t get over how good that top looks on you. You are so TIU ;) and I need to get on trying the Attune cereal – after I finish the box I already have open of their Uncle Sam original flavor!

  15. Caitlin says:

PS I’m giving my Almond Breeze coupon to you when I see youuu

  16. Felicia says:

  20. Lisa says:

The swag was the best! We got lots of awesome stuff…mostly the shoes though:)
You are just so dang gorgeous! Love your braid and shirt!
I still haven’t tried the cereal yet, but now I really want to!

  21. Lizzie says:

Do I spy another fishtail braid? :) So cute! You’re so lucky to have such Boho-chic hair!

That cereal looks a.maze.ing. I cannot wait for it to hit stores! It’s probably not right to be so excited for cereal–but this girl sure is! And you say that the flakes stay crispy? Can someone say “nom nom”?
