Sexy Shoulders Superset Workout!

August 27, 2012 by Heather

Happy Monday! Hope your work week is off to a fantastic start. If you’re in school, I hope that move-in went seamlessly for you. I remember lugging all of my crap upstairs to the third floor of my dorm room, huffing, puffing, and sweating the whole way through – sans AC. If you’re a fellow top floor resident, I sympathize with you. ;-)

I didn’t really share much of my weekend with you, did I?

For starters, I tried a sip of Matty’s mocha beer. I do not like beer but I love mocha so I thought, “Hey, why not?”

Obviously, I really liked it.

In other news, I’m painting my room and decided on a color scheme!

Three of the walls will be the Light Mocha color and the fourth will be Sweet Nectar as an accent wall. I’m excited to get the ball rolling on this! I also picked out the color for my bathroom but the photo came out really wonky-looking so you’ll just have to wait on that! I’ve found some great wall art from my beloved Urban Outfitters too! Check it out:

The hunt continues! If you have any suggestions for places/web sites I can visit that sell modern-with-a-vintage-twist wall art, I’m all ears. :-)

Lunch

It had been a week or so since I’d seen Raquel (my bestie), so we decided to meet up for lunch. We both had the day off and I needed a break from applying to freelance writing jobs.

We decided to meet up at Garden Grille (duh).  I ordered my current favorite: the edamame-white bean burger, which came with a cabbage slaw, big pickle (!!!), and a side of Kim Chi remoulade for dipping. I kind of want to drown in that remoulade.

We chatted all things girly for a couple of hours before parting ways to get work done. Raquel is a hair stylist and had booking to complete and I had to get going on the bloggie!

Sexy Shoulders Superset Workout

Alright, guys. Remember that time I said I was a little bummed to leave phase one of my workout routine behind? Well, I take it back. This morning’s workout had my shoulders literally shaking. And, to boot, I’ve been experiencing DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) all day. In a good way, though. This workout gets your whole body working while targeting your shoudlers. I hope you give it a try!

FYI: You can see Zuzana demonstrate a mule kick here.

I encourage you to really dig deep and challenge yourself! For all of the moves that required weights, I used the highest weight that my arms could handle (without sacrificing form) and pushed myself to the limit. I’m starting to see more progress and it feels so amazing! There is nothing like pushing your preconceived limits, huh? :-)

Well, I’m off to spend the evening with Matty.

Stay lovely,
Heather

  2. Hahhaa love your beer face – I keep trying to like beer, but it’s not happening. I had such high hopes for pumpkin beer! :(

And your room is going to be SO pretty painted in those gorgeous, muted tones:).

(DOMS= DELAYED onset muscle soreness, hope that didn’t come off as nit picky!?)

When I was in college I got a periodic table of elements shower curtain from Urban Outfitters and I loved it so much… oh the chemistry major in me!

But for real, they have great home decor!

  6. That’s probably your new favorite beer, right? ;) I had a top floor dorm my first year, too. It was terrible. No elevator. Ha ha love those colors for your room!

  7. Hahaha I have the exact same face when I drink beer! No matter how many times I try it, I just can’t learn to like it. :P But last time I was out I tried a sip of my friend’s cider and I actually really liked it. It didn’t have any of that icky beer taste!

  8. I love those wall colors!! I wish I could paint the walls of my apartment, but since I can’t I just cover them with pretty pictures haha.

LOL love the facial expression – it says it all! I recently did my room too. I picked a light pink since that is my fav color. I’m thinking of getting some type of stencils and painting the design with white to make it a little more “artsy”

I’m ready to start the next phase of strength training with you- giving your workout a try tomorrow.

P.S. I brought cabbage leaves for lunch today…OMG delicious! Why haven’t I done this all along?!?

  10. love those colors! and the workout sounds wonderful! I can feel the burn already

  11. I’m in the middle of painting too – went from your new room color back to a beige color called natural linen to brighten things up a bit since we’re planning on selling soon. Love your color combo!

  12. Emily says:

Yeee! I actually have shoulders on the agenda tomorrow so this workout came at the perfect time. Your last strength-training workout that I tried kicked my butt (in an amazing way!)
It looks like you had a lovely weekend, especially since Garden Grille was involved. I die of jealousy every time you post pictures of that burger. (:

    Happy Monday, gorgeous!

    • Heather says:

Yay! I’m so excited for you to try it. Let me know what you think! Wish you could join me every time I went to Garden Grille! SIGH.

Hands in the air if you were a third-floor college student! I hated those stairs soooooo much. I was so happy that my family came and helped me move out, or else I would still be in college!

Thanks for the workout! I’m always looking for shoulder workouts (and chest, in case you have another LOL). Your food, btw, looks so good. You always make meatless meals look so appealing. :-)

    • Heather says:

Oh LORD, yes. Those stairs were KILLER. Ha! Thank God for strong Dads. ;-) Can’t wait for you to try the shoulder workout. Let me know what you think of it! Chest is coming up soon!

  14. I’m the same way with beer – just cannot do it!

  15. Meg says:

I would be intrigued by mocha beer, too, but (just like you) I HATE BEER, so I doubt I would like it at all ha

  16. MIz says:

today is TRI and SHOULDERS too.

    THANK YOU!

  17. You are seriously adorable and I’ve gotta try that workout!

  18. Caitlin says:

I love your face with that mocha beer. Reminds me of my face when I drank beer up until recently but I am acquiring the taste! I even just found out I’ll be covering Mohegan Sun Casino’s Brew Fest for them!
That white bean burger…I miss it and I’ve only tried one bite. I would’ve asked for 80 more pickles.
I love the way you set up that workout with those Reebok shorts. Super creative, but could I expect anything less from my BB?
I LOOOVE everything for your room that you’ve picked out so far. The color scheme reminds me of something I might see in a charming coffee shop!

    • Heather says:

You go girl!!! That sounds like the perfect event for you. I can’t wait for you to see the finished product – I have a feeling it will be beautiful!
