5 Things I’m Loving Lately

September 22, 2012 by Heather

WOW! All of the support I have received for j’adore la vie is blowing my mind! The first week was a huge success and I know that we can make it continue. Keep sending in those j’adore la vie moments to heather[at]fortheloveofkale[dot]com and keep tweeting and instagramming with “#jadorelavie” and “@theloveofkale!”

This week, I’ve received and tried a bunch of good stuff, so I thought I’d lump it into one post. Sound like a plan?

Spirit Junkie

Lately, my creative juices have been flowing and there are so many topics that I can’t wait to discuss with you as I further my spiritual journey and channel my inner soul sister. Spirit Junkie is my BFF right now – and everyone in my world knows it. This book is rocking my inner guide to its core and reiterating not only how far I’ve come in my life as a recovered anorexic but as a recovered relationshipaholic and attention seeker as well. It literally makes my heart burst with pride. I’m psyched that so many of you are looking into purchasing the book, too. Regardless of where you are in life, it is a must-read!

Clif Bar’s Kit’s Organic Fruit & Nut Bars

I tried a new snack this week! While I was at Whole Foods picking up some protein powder (necessity) and kombucha (impulse buy), I spotted these babies for only $1.09 each. Portable snacks are important to me for my job as a nutrition counselor and while I’m working my retail job and, right now, I don’t feel like making my own bars at home (admitting it!) so this sounded more appealing.

I love these Kit’s Organic bars! They’re satisfying and delicious. Kit’s bars are similar to LARABARs except, unlike the latter, their ingredients are primarily organic and they donate to support the passing of Proposition 37! Ever since I learned LARABAR’s parent company, General Mills, donated money to have the GMO labeling laws repealed, I have stopped purchasing them. Gotta stand up for our right to know what’s in our food. Can I get an amen?! Anyways, these bars are awesome. My dear friend Sara echoes these sentiments!

PacSun Owl Necklace

I love owls. I am obsessed with anything that has an adorable little owl on it. Owl mugs, owl wallets, owl pillows, owl everything! I scored this necklace for just $1.99 at PacSun the other day and I’m in love. I think I shall name him Benny. It just sounds right. ;-) If you’re a PacSun lover like myself, the retail stores are having insanely awesome sales right now. I purchased two cardigans, two necklaces, and one tank top for just $28! You’ll definitely see everything popping up on the Fashion page soon!

Trader Joe’s Chocolate Coconut Milk Ice Cream

Oh yesss. This stuff is not only heavenly in flavor but is also reasonably priced at just $3.99 per pint. I happily polished off half of the container with good people and good conversation. I must admit I was happy neither of them like coconut because that meant I could eat straight from the container! J’adore la vie indeed.

The Most Special Notebook of All

Last week, I received an email from reader Megan. She told me that she’d stumbled upon something that “had my name all over it” while she was shopping for her motivation mail buddy. I emailed her my address and, on Wednesday evening, was gifted with the above notebook. I was so touched that I started to cry! How sweet of her. This community sends me so much love every day and j’adore la vie is my way of trying to send the love back, so to have that cycle just keep continuing is an absolute blessing. Thank you, Megan! You’re an angel.

Hope you’re all enjoying the first day of Fall! I’m off to a 4:00 p.m. Bikram yoga class. We’ll catch up tomorrow!

Stay lovely,
Heather

I’m still searching for those clif kit’s bars! I’d love to try them! I’m all about the convenience snacks!

Oh wow, AMEN! I didn’t know that about Larabars and General Mills. Really disappointing.

And how ironic! I started learning about Gabrielle Bernstein a year ago, but sort of put her whole philosophy on the wayside after school/work started again. Just the other day, I started listening to her lectures on youtube, feeling the need for some inspiration. Really love her whole attitude towards life!!

  3. That’s so sweet about the notebook!! That’s just proof of good things happen to good people!! :) :)

That is SO kind of a reader to send you a notebook that reminded her so much of you! Just knowing that someone cares that much to see something like that (right up your alley) and get it for you, simply because she knew it’d make you happy – that’s beautiful :) like you! And that owl necklace!

  5. So sweet of her! The notebook IS perfect!

… and I need to try that book. I’ve been in to books like that lately and think it will be perfect for my next one :)
