Wall Decor Update

September 1, 2012 by Heather

This morning, I woke up totally confused by the fact that I was waking up at 5:30 a.m. on a Saturday. It took me a good 10 seconds to remember that I had to work at 7:00, at which point I shoved the covers to the side, put on my sneakers, and went downstairs for a quick 13-minute workout.

Workout

I completed the latest ZWOW – but not really, because I adjusted the workout quite a bit. I swapped the broad jumps for barrier jumps and the thrusters for bicep curls to an overhead press (still using the heaviest weight I could without sacrificing form). It was great! I’m not a fan of thrusters or broad jumps; the latter exercise always makes me feel like I’m going to fall over upon landing. Anyone else share this?

Whole Foods & Fig Lovin’

My fellow Twitter friends: you all are hysterical! After enjoying lunch and getting some blogging done, I went grocery shopping and sent out this tweet:

I was instantly flooded with well wishes, all of which totally cracked me up. Here’s a snippet.

My Twitter girls have my back! Speaking of my girls, I owe many thanks to Lori and Michelle, who inspired me to purchase some fresh figs at Whole Foods yesterday. I enjoyed a few this morning and I really enjoy the light flavor and chewy texture, both of which remind me a little bit of a plum.

And, for the record, I only purchased one unnecessary item at Whole Foods (a Pulsin’ bar) and spent just $40!

Lunch

When I got home from work, I more-than ready for lunch! I threw some raw spinach, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, sauerkraut, and sliced Brussels sprouts into a bowl while a Sunshine burger toasted away. Then, I made a dressing out of 2 Tbsp. nutritional yeast, 2 Tbsp. hummus, and 2 1/2 Tbsp. unsweetened almond milk.

It was quite the delicious lunch and I’m kind of dreaming about it again. Le sigh!

Room Decor Update

My hunt for wall decor is still in progress. I’ve decided against purchasing the aforementioned carousel and record player because Urban Outfitters’ shipping costs are rude. Instead, I’ve been looking to etsy for ideas – much more affordable! Here’s what I currently have my eye on:

I’m banking on some sort of owl wall art too but I’ve yet to find one that isn’t 70′s Grandma-inspired. Nothing against Grandmas – just not my style! ;-) If all else fails, I still have my owl dish and owl mug.

Alright, I’m going to go for a walk around my neighborhood then head to job number two. Have a gorgeous day!

Stay lovely,
Heather

  1. Figs are amazing! They’re actually delicious with tahini (tossed up in Quinoa with green beans…pomegranates or peaches, a little spinach…drool!)

Haha, so funny about WF! I’m certain that it’s impossible to go in there without at least 1 impulse buy!

I am the worst about only getting what I need at whole foods! Something always catches my eye! I did make it out of there today though with only 2 things!!! I have the same problem with target! It is impossible to buy only one thing and exactly what you need!

Girl, we are twins…it’s kind of scary.
I did ZWOW #32 today too! I kept the broad jumps in the routine but I definitely know what you mean about feeling unbalanced- I hate that!
AND I went to WF today with the intention of only buying the things on my list. I did really well until I got to the deli counter and saw they were having a lunch special (1 entree & 2 sides for $5) Since I hadn’t eaten yet, I couldn’t resist the lure of their sesame tofu! It was worth every penny. (:

  5. lindsay says:

super impressed that you only bought one extra thing. I went to whole foods today for healthy bites ingredients and ended up buying another pair of TOMS> ugh, whole paycheck

  6. Lisa says:

Ohhh I love all the wall decor!
Hey, at least you have the option to shop at whole foods to your hearts content…I get nadda of that;)
Can you believe I’ve never tried a fig! Something is wrong with my brain.
I also feel you on waking up early to work today, had to do the same and it was brutal ha ha.
I didn’t get a break for 8 hours and was starvinggg!
Okay, you have got to try nutritional yeast mixed with coconut oil for a dressing it is the BEST!
    Love you long time!!! xox

I’m thinking, during our next Skype chat, you need to tell me what you want from Whole Foods. Maybe a nice care package will be sent your way? ;-)

  7. Just found your blog and love it! I love those Sunshine burgers- so fast and easy:)

  8. Caitlin says:

I totally love it when I send out a tweet and get a zillion responses from people who can relate to me. It puts a HUGE smile on my face!

  9. Meg says:

Aren’t figs amazing!?!? I had them for the first time a week ago and I thought I died and went to heaven. I think they’re me new favourite fruit perhaps!?

  10. @pluvk says:

While part of me somewhat sad we don’t have a Whole Foods nearby, maybe it’s a good thing! I can barely get through the market without at least fifty dollars worth of stuff. :-( Not good…

I love the “Life is Beautiful” wall art (What a great thing to see every day!) and the Bible Verse!

    • Heather says:

Oh, girl, I FEEL YOU! My dwindling bank account was not happy about my former purchases there so I buckled down. With a good list 9and some self control), it can happen. ;-)

  11. wahoo!! YAY for figs, so glad Lori and I helped inspire you to try them!
