Product I’m Loving: NRG Matrix & GIVEAWAY! [COMMENTS CLOSED]

December 19, 2012 by Heather

I’m not an energy drink kind of girl – never was. I work out on an empty stomach first thing in the morning (working out with food in my belly makes me want to hurl) and always feel energized.  This is what works for me and it may very well work for you too – or maybe you need some breakfast before your workout. That’s fine! As my girl Kasey says, #beTRUEtoYOU!

Now, I’m going to totally contradict myself. And I’m totally okay with it. I blame the NRG Matrix team for making such a rockin’ product. ;-)

For those of you that are not familiar with NRG Matrix, it is actually a raw, organic energy drink made from mushrooms. Yep, mushrooms. Don’t be deceived by the modernized packaging. This stuff is the real deal, my friends. I will totally admit that I pre-judged this product. Kasey told me to check it out and, at first glance, I thought, “Ya, ya, ya, I have energy for dayyys. I don’t need this supplement stuff.” Forgive me, NRG Matrix. I was wrong and judgmental. Tisk tisk! And, for the record, this is not a supplement. It is a whole foods-derived energy drink!

What I love the most about NRG Matrix is the fact that it provides an affordable alternative to Red Bull, Monster, and all those other energy drinks that have been proven to have long-term negative effects on our bodies. NRG Matrix was created by a team of healthcare professionals and scientists seeking to create an honest, compassionate #plantPOWERed product that gives us long-lasting energy. Um, yes please.

The primary ingredient in NRG Matrix is medicinal mushrooms, which contain a key ingredient called cordyceps that has been scientifically proven to enhance exercise performance. Cordyceps does this by increasing the amount of oxygen delivered to our bodies and enhancing the production of ATP, a co-enzyme in our bodies that is responsible for energy transfer.

Here’s what the ingredient list looks like:

  • Organic Medicinal Mushrooms grown in San Marcos, California (for lasting energy)
  • Organic Extracts – Yerba Mate, Guarana, American Ginseng, Tumeric Root (for improved immune function)
  • Vitamin Blend – Vitamin C, Vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6 and B12, Vitamin D (derived from the Medicinal mushrooms!)
  • Organic Stevia, Monkfruit

Impressive, huh? I love how every ingredient has a purpose. The monkfruit and stevia give NRG Matrix a delicious, mild citrus flavor.

I can really attest to the product. I’ve been using it every other day for the past two weeks and have been recording my energy levels. On the days that I drink NRG Matrix during my toning routines, I definitely notice a difference in my energy levels. I literally feel like I could go for hours! When I don’t drink NRG Matrix and just drink water, after about an hour, I’m ready to call it quits. Like I said, it’s the real deal and I would absolutely recommend it to everyone!

NRG Matrix is a powder that comes in a convenient pouch. I simply pour the packet into my Camelbak before filling it up with water. After a generous shake, you’re good to go!

So, what do you think? Would you like some NRG Matrix? Well, if you insist.. ;-)

Thanks to the kind team at NRG Matrix, they’ve agreed to gift TWO readers with a 10-pack of NRG Matrix! All you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling me how you would incorporate NRG Matrix into your daily life. Entries will close on Saturday at 12:00 a.m. and the winners will be announced on Sunday. GOOD LUCK!

*Edited to add (thanks to reader, Kirsten!): You can purchase NRG Matrix online at their website here! Per packet (i.e. per serving), they’re almost $1.00 cheaper than the price of leading energy drinks in most stores.

Stay lovely,
Heather

  2. This would be great for me to take to school with me for some extra energy! I have very long days and sometimes need a pick me up, I am always looking for a NATURAL way to do it. I don’t want to depend on coffee or other energy drinks. Only good stuff needs to go in my body!!

This would also be an awesome pre-work out boost!

  3. This product sounds amazing! Especially for the days I’ve been having lately when I just don’t feel like I have energy, no matter how well I sleep, this would be a great help :)

I’m not a big fan of Monster, 5-Hour Energy etc. BECAUSE of the negative effects being reported. To find an all-natural option seriously makes my day!

Thanks so much for this giveaway, Heather :)

  4. Annie Heiss says:

AHHHHH! I would love to have some of this. I’m the same as you – it’s tough for me to force something down before a workout, but during my 4x/week intense lifting routines, I can always feel a crash when I wish I had eaten something. This would be the perfect vegan, whole foods, natural way to give my body the energy it needs.

  5. I am currently training for a 100 mile race on April 20, 2013 and could use some more energy, especially during my speed workouts. I’ve heard good things about cordyceps mushrooms and would love the opportunity to try it! Thank you very much for considering me.

  6. Anjali says:

  15. i am the same way about food and working out. i do pure barre at 615am during the week and the last thing on my mind is food…i want sleep haha! i usually sip on some green juice that i have made in the fridge from the previous evening and then on my way to the studio!

liquid energy is much gentler on me when i’m moving around and breaking a sweat. food just really seems to sit like a brick with me even when i wait a few hours.

  30. Like you, I workout first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. I’ve never taken an “energy drink” before exercising, so I’d really be curious to see this difference!

  31. Mary Kate says:

I would love to try this product before my morning workouts to give me a boost of energy and vitamins before I start the day! More importantly though, I would love for my mom to incorporate this product into her daily life. She currently takes emergenC a lot but is not that crazy about some of the ingredients in it. This would be perfect to keep her healthy! My mom especially needs the energy considering she wakes up every morning at 5 am to walk our dogs and then go to work :)

  32. I would definitely use this before workouts! Love the ingredients list.

  33. I’m definitely intrigued! ;) I was a sugar free Red Bull addict in college, and often consumed three cans in one day. Thinking about the detrimental effect my habits had on my health makes me cringe. :-/ I wish I could take those years back!

I’d love to try NRG Matrix before my combined cardio and strength-training workouts. I always feel pretty fatigued on those days, so having a little extra boost would be wonderful!

  34. Alexandra F says:

This looks amazing! Recently I’ve been feeling kind of “lax” in the gym and just feel like my workouts are slacking. I’ve tried creatine before and also drinking a huge cup of coffee before my workouts but nothing really gives me that OOMPH that I want. I’d love to try this stuff out!

  35. Melanie says:

I have been looking at this product for sometime to enhance my exercise performance and energy during long days but it sounded too good to be true so I hesitated committing to the purchase. This review definitely makes me reconsider!

  36. McKel says:

I would use it for a mid afternoon/ during a workout pick me up! ;) . I’m not a fan of energy drinks, but I am a huge fan of medicinal mushrooms; and the ingredients in this sound great!

  37. Samantha K. says:

Forget coffee or tea I would start my day at 4am with this and use it before weekend bike rides and training. Then lets see the guys keep up with me.

  38. Michelle says:

Wow, this energy drink sounds right up my alley! I’d like to try it in the mornings before a workout or coffee to see if it also pepped me up mentally the way a little bit of coffee can. I’d def try it in the early afternoon before a mid-day workout, too!

  39. Amie says:

Sounds awesome! I would use before my morning workouts :)

  40. Stephanie says:

I’ve never seen this product before, I would love to try this before a morning workout!

  41. Brooke says:

Wow, I could seriously use this! I fit my workouts in EARLY in the morning (my alarm goes off at 4:45, I try to be at the gym by 5:30) so I can work out before coming home, making sure my kids are ready for the day, then hurriedly showering and getting ready for work. I work a 9-5 (really 8-5) job before coming home, making dinner, making lunches for the next day, spending time with my two kids (ages 2 and 5) before putting them to bed and trying to fit in some quality time with my husband while cleaning up, getting things prepared for the next day, and falling into bed. I refuse to get my energy from “fake” drinks and caffeine doesn’t affect me, so natural energy would be a godsend!!!

  42. Amanda says:

I would love to try this to see if it gives me an extra boost for cross fit workouts!

  43. Ashley says:

I would use them on Sunday afternoon’s when I’ve gone out on Saturday nights…instead of wasting a whole day, I could use a healthier alternative to Redbull! :)

  44. Ashley P says:

I would love to use these in the mornings, before a workout, or mid-day for an energy boost to get through the rest of the work day. I love how the ingredients are so much healthier than those typical energy drinks.

  45. Autumn says:

For those times I make those “I’m too tired/had a long day/ect” excuses to skip a workout. No excuses now!

  46. Kristen says:

I like to have a really small breakfast in the morning just to get me out of bed for a workout! These energy drinks sound refreshing!

  47. Molly C. says:

Wow, I would love to try NRG Matrix… I could seriously use this before my early morning workouts! This seems like just the extra push I’ve been looking for.
