#plantPOWER Round II: H is for…Healthy Snacks, Happiness & Headbands!

February 8, 2013 by Heather

Happy Friday, beauties! Hope you’re enjoying the first full week of #plantPOWER. We’re so psyched to have you along for the ride. There’s still SO much to look forward to, so stay tuned and excited!

Today is day 8, also known as “H” day!

We’re representing healthy snacks, happiness, and headbands! Yes, headbands. More on that in a minute. But before we get to that, let’s recap two awesome “G” recipes from yesterday!

Aly (@alyymayb) created an amazing green #plantPOWER salad!

From Aly herself: “Green day lunch! Big green mixed salad topped with alfalfa sprouts, quinoa, pumpkin granola, pumpkin and pomegranate seeds.”

Jess (jess_cappy) made a green LOVE smoothie!

She said, “Rise and shine its smoothie time!!!  Don’t even know what to call this beauty but man is it good!!! A little over 35 oz of pure amazing-ness lol  listed the smoothie ingredients but I gotta admit I barely ever measure anything, I just wing it and have fun, but this combo works beautifully.”

Winging it and having fun? She’s speaking my language.

H is for healthy snacks!

Healthy snacks are a big part of my lifestyle! I eat every 2-3 hours and this girl loves her healthy snacks. I’m a big fan of eating three meals and two or three snacks in between.  Here’s a peak into my snacks!

Nuts

Veggies with hummus

Roasted sweet potato with peach protein salsa (2 Tbsp Trader Joe’s peach salsa + 2 Tbsp nutritional yeast + 1 tsp water)

Pumpkin Pie Spiced Banana Soft Serve

Baked Apple with Peanutty-Walnut Crumble

Raw ‘n Sweet Red Pepper Dip

Perfect Fit Pumpkin Pudding with Pumpkin Spice Cashews

Open-Faced Peanut Butter & Raw Blueberry Jam Cake

Now that you’ve been sufficiently inundated with snacks, you can go make ‘em and eat your beautiful hearts out!

H is for…HAPPINESS!

Of course, plant-based foods are a vital tool to keeping us healthy and happy. Food, however, is not the direct key to happiness. True happiness is found right inside of you. You don’t have to do anything and you don’t have to go anywhere to find it. All you have to do is recognize that where you are is exactly where you are mean to be.

H is for…HEADBANDS!

I know, headbands aren’t a “food” per say, but this month is all about supporting one another in our own journeys & Katie, a fellow FitFluential Ambassador of ours, started her own headband company! As fellow entrepreneurs, we totally support anyone who is pursuing their passion. Once Kasey had the opportunity to review these adorable headbands for the owner, Katie, she loved them so much that she couldn’t wait to feature her and her bands!

She made these ADORABLE headbands called BAMR Headbands.

I admit I was stalking your blog all morning waiting for the latest post! haha:) They make me happy.
Those sweet potato wedges w salsa and nutritional yeast…yummm. I actually just had a sweet potato with salsa and cinnamon (sooo good!) as a snack today- they’re the best

  2. I am a huge snacker. I am definitely not a “eat 3-4 times only in a day” kind of person. Snacking is an absolute must for me. Thanks for sharing so many great healthy ideas :) .
