  1. Epic Hour with Wellness Wonderland Radio!

    May 15, 2013 by Heather

On Monday morning, I had the pleasure of chatting it up with Katie Dalebout, author of The Wellness Wonderland, for an hour-long chat about spirituality, food, body image, and blogging. Katie recently started her own Wellness Wonderland radio show and I’m honored to have been the second guest! She is such an amazing woman with so much creative inspiration to offer.

You can listen to the interview in the video below or download the MP3 version here, put it on your iPod and listen to it in the car. I can’t get enough of podcasts lately, so I recommend doing this. It always makes the car ride go by so quickly!

I know you’ll enjoy our interview. We talk about my morning and evening routines, go-to meals, and tips for living a j’adore la vie lifestyle. If you’re not already a frequent visitor to The Wellness Wonderland, you definitely will become one after listening to this interview. Katie will steal your heart much like she stole mine a few months ago. ;-)

Make sure you leave us some questions and/or comments on YouTube too. Let’s have some girl chat!

    Stay lovely,
    Heather

  2. Be Your Own Guru

    May 14, 2013 by Heather

Seek the answers to your desires in someone else and ye shall not find.

Ancient wisdom says, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God.” The “kingdom of God” is not a place in the clouds that you have to try to imagine you’ll hopefully arrive at someday. The “kingdom of God” is inside of you. The “kingdom of God” is your inner teacher.

    Be your own guru.

We are all students and teachers, here to teach and learn from each other. Ultimately, though, you  are your own guru. No one knows your body better than you. No one knows your inner teacher better than you. Sometimes, we just forget…and need people to help us remember what we have inside of us. Sometimes, we need people to be a reflection of our inner teacher. We need people to show up for us as a mirror of our inner teacher so they can help us remember what we have chosen to forget. That doesn’t make those people “gurus” and it doesn’t make those people better than you.

    BeYourOwnGuru

Don’t try to be different. Own the fact that you already are different. Show up and write the story for your own life. Write the story that you want to read about yourself.

    Be your own guru.

    Stay lovely.

How will you be your own guru today?

  3. Part II: How can I be confident without being cocky?

    May 13, 2013 by Heather

On Friday, we chatted about the first steps to becoming more confident in your ideas. We have to clean house and push our ego’s limiting beliefs out of the way before we can let love and confidence seep in. Now, that’s not to say limiting beliefs won’t pop up when you gain confidence – hell yes they will! But once you’ve done the work to clean house and reach that space of confidence, you will know how to face those limiting beliefs; they won’t squash you anymore because you’ll know how to confront them and shoo them off!

Be gentle with yourself through the releasing process. No, it’s not comfortable, but it’s so worth it. It took me about two months of using the tools in part I to get to a space of confidence. Once you feel like you’ve cleared space, take the following tips with you to make sure that what you have to offer is aligned with your Highest Self:

    Repeat Part I every day.

Work your spiritual practice like a full-time job. The work never ends – and that should excite you! The more we work our mental muscles, the stronger they become, and the more clearer we can hear our inner teacher’s guidance. This is literally the best gift you can ever give yourself. So, keep going! I still do it. Every day.

Come from a space of service.

Is what you have to give simultaneously fueling you creatively while filling a gap that you see in the market? Then, you’re totally being of service. On the other hand, if you’re thinking something along the lines of, “OMG! This project is going to make me so popular and I’m going to get ‘x’ amount of dollars and ‘x’ amount of new Twitter followers!” then you should check yourself. When we come from a space of being of service to others and know deep down in our hearts that people need what we have to give, we don’t come off as cocky – we come off as confident because other people feel  the energy of that genuine place that you’re coming from. They can feel the energy of your passion and confidence in what you have to offer and, therefore, also know that you’re being of service to them.

When I first started to meditate, I fell in love with it. I could meditate to any music because I knew that, no matter what, I would get the mental shower I was looking for. As I started to search for more meditations, I realized there were practically no meditations for the modern woman or man who was just beginning their meditation journey. I saw that gap and realized that I could fill it because I’m a singer / songwriter and I’m 100% passionate about spirituality and mediation.  When I realized this, my inner teacher instantly spoke to me and said, “You have to do this.” So, I downloaded the guidance and got to work. I don’t come off as cocky because you can feel the passionate energy behind my words and you know that this meditation CD is an amazing service to provide to others.

    Let your passion fuel you.

The Universe put you on this planet for a purpose: to spread love and kindness to others in your own unique way. When we receive guidance from our inner teacher (that voice rooted in creativity and inspiration), we have the opportunity to embrace our “passion purpose.” There is no better feeling than that because it not only serves others but it lights you up inside! If you feel your heart expand and passion rise in the center of your chest every time you think about this project, then you’re most likely following your purpose. That means you’re serving yourself and others.

    Acknowledge the signs.

Your inner teacher is your own personal messenger. It receives the information from the Universe and relays that information to you. If you choose to ignore the messages, the Universe won’t give up on you. It will persist until you no longer resist the information! The Universe will try to communicate to you through different people and different situations until you actually get the hint. If signs keep coming your way, that is another hint that this service you have to offer is not something to be ignored. Marie Forleo, one of my greatest mentors, says something that really rings true for all of us. By ignoring the Universal signs and procrastinating on what you want to do, she says, ” you’re stealing from the ones who need you most.” The world needs what you have to offer!

If you’re overwhelmed, it’s okay! Take a deep breath and keep rockin’ part I until you’re ready. You’ll know when you’re ready. Just stay dedicated. If you need any guidance, feel free to contact me. Now is the time to step up and take a risk. The energy of the Universe is supporting and loving and wants to back you up. Have faith and patience and remain committed and, I promise, you will receive everything you need.

    Stay lovely,
    Heather
