  1. J’adore la vie Week 11

    January 3, 2013 by Heather

A Course in Miracles says there is no order in miracles. This means that no miracle is better than another. All miracles are equal opportunities to change our perceptions from fear to love. When we change our perceptions to love, we are in a state of bliss. This state of bliss allows us to truly believe in this concept of Oneness in miracles. For example, if you wake up one morning and your first thought is, “I love you, body,” that is just as much of a miracle as you meeting, say, Oprah later that evening.

This is part of the reason why I created this space for us to share our moments of joy. Every single J’adore la vie moment is a miracle. They are all equally beautiful and that makes them equal miracles. This means we are all equal miracle workers. Holla!

Linz teaches us how life really can be one, big #jadorelavie moment.

“My j’adore la vie moment came tonight when I got home from happy hour with my best friend.  We were talking about several events coming up in anticipation of her June wedding and then I came home, joked around with my husband, did a bunch of split jumps and handstands while he tried to capture it on camera (is this normal??), and then I just laid on the floor thinking, ‘Wow, life is good. J’adore la vie.’ Itz the little moments in life that are the absolute best!”

Meg witnessed true love and felt it reflected back to her.

“Here’s my holiday #jadorelavie moment: seeing my brother celebrate his first Christmas with his wife… I’ve never seen him happier and the love is contagious!”

Annie got her #plantPOWER veggie fuel ready for the week!

Hilary chilled out with a soy latte while looking for a new vegan-friendly recipe. (P.S. – Thank you for teaching me what a Hoppin’ John is!)

Brittiney‘s brunch spread reminded her of how much she really loves her paleo lifestyle.

Kasey and I gave each other the greatest gift: soul sister love!

Lucie stood and admired the view after a walk around her neighborhood.

Sometimes, a simple salad is enough to make us grateful. Meg loves fueling her body with clean foods! It makes her feel strong and grateful.

Kelsa received this work of art from her precious nephew.

Franny says it all. Amen, soul sister!

Lori snuggled up to her not-so-much-a-puppy-anymore! ;-) Jax is getting so big!

Mary Kate was inspired to create Kimberly Snyder’s Dharma’s Kale Salad. She is loving the alkaline-based concepts that Kim teaches, and her body loves her back for it!

Claire took a moment to soak up the beauty of the snow-soaked trees.

Kasey reflected on 2012 and became filled with gratitude! She accomplished so much and wants others to realize they can accomplish whatever they desire.

Annie lives the miracle mindset. Only love is real. Read this and weep joyful tears, my babes!

After lots of rest, veggies, and water, Sloane kicked the flu to the curb and went to hang with her best friend!

Lakshmi cuddled up with her little men!

Cait experienced a breathtaking sunset while vacationing in Florida with her family.

The first thing I do in the morning is meditate. It opens my heart and makes me see all of the love that I have to give. Starting our day with something that centers us and preps our minds for a love-centered day is like breathing: it is essential. I am forever grateful for the daily #jadorelavie moments I have with my breathe, my soul, and my body every morning. The mantra this day was simple. I said to the Universe, “I’m listening.”

I love you all. Have a beautiful, blessed day.

    Stay lovely,
    Heather

You know when the holidays come to a close and you get that small wave of “post-holiday blues?” The family has left, the house is a mess, and the magic of the season seems to have dwindled a bit. I say pish posh to that! Why not keep it going? This Thursday, we’re going to have a special holiday edition of J’adore la vie! It’s really simple. As you’re going about your holiday activities, whatever you’re doing, if you feel a blissful J’adore la vie moment wash over you, share it! Take a minute to Tweet and Instagram the moments you cherish with #jadorelavie and @theloveofkale. Let’s savor them and share them!

Speaking of extending the holidays, Matty and I decided to start Christmas a few days early. Last night, we went out to Rasoi, our favorite Indian restaurant, for a glass of wine and dinner.

    Can you spy Matty? ;)

We also exchanged one gift that we got for each other. Oh, my – he totally hit it out of the park this year. Then again, he always does. He’s definitely a better gift-giver than me when it comes to coming up with gifts that rock my world. I’ll be sure to blog about all of them after Christmas! Anyways, we talked, laughed, and toasted to our 4 1/2 years together. Definitely one big #jadorelavie moment!

I hope that you have a very Merry Christmas! Love you guys so much. Thank you for giving me so much, inspiration, and faith every day. I am truly grateful for you.

  3. J’adore la vie Week 8

    December 13, 2012 by Heather

Yesterday, I was working from home. Matty came over on his way to the office to drop off some cookies we planned on bringing to our friends’ apartment that evening. We hung out and talked for a few minutes, catching up on life. The two of us are spending less time together due to work schedules, but the moments we do have together are so precious, raw, honest, and real. Before he left, we were joking around and Matty said, “I need you.” I smiled, looked him square in the eyes, and said, “I love you and I want you; but I don’t need you.” He laughed and smiled.

To some of us that might seem downright crazy. Some of you might be thinking, “Girl, who the hell do you think you are talking to him like that?” But the reason Matty laughed and smiled is because he knew it too. He knows that he doesn’t need me to be okay. We just make each other better. That is love.

This was a total #jadorelavie moment for me.

Sometimes, we’re waiting for a big, grandeur gesture to save us. We’re waiting for a man or a woman to come and save us; we’re waiting for that big paycheck to give us financial security; we’re waiting for a new outfit to give us newfound body confidence. This is not to discredit the joy we receive (and deserve) from these things. But the more we search “out there” for stuff, the further we get from understanding that we already have everything we need “in here.” J’adore la vie moments bring us back to that; they help us remember that everything we could ever possibly need is right where we are. Right here. Right now.

    Quote of the Week

“Your perception of the world around you directly reflects your internal state. If you perceive a world of chaos, your mind and life will be chaotic. If you perceive a world of love, your mind and life will be filled with love.” #jadorelavie

Melissa stumbled upon some super rad street art that spoke straight to her heart:

I absolutely had a J’adore la vie moment while visiting San Francisco for an academic conference last week. I was feeling the stress and pressure from all the meetings and talking to other people in my field….when the sun finally came out on the last day of the conference and I went for a random stroll around the city by myself. This street art really reminded me to stop, breath and take in my surroundings. Then I met up with an old friend for a coffee date…best day ever!

Lauren basked in the simple (and profound) joy the sun can bring.

Lucie spent time with her BFF at a Christmas get together.

Hilary channeled her inner kiddo and laid under the Christmas tree.

Lakshmi (her blog is a MUST-READ!) took a tech break to sit with her honey.

Nadja opened her eyes to a pretty priceless AM view.

Cait made time to read on her lunch break, one of her favorite things.

Virginie felt love and a sense of empowerment after her morning meditation.

Sara wound down her day with simple pleasures that make her feel relaxed and “home” in her body..

Marie began her day the best way she knows how: appreciating nature and yoga.

Lisa enjoyed a night out with her best girlfriends. OW OW!

Angelica set up her Christmas tree at home.

Kelsa found inspiration and peace in a Bible verse…

…and a midday sky and a cup of tea!

Marie found wisdom in her Yogi tea reading.

Thank you all so much for participating in #jadorelavie! Together, we are helping others to remember and honor the moments of joy that happen everyday in our lives. Our mission for the week is to share #jadorelavie with someone and tweet about it! Maybe a friend, relative, or significant other is having an off day. Cheer them up by telling them about #jadorelavie! Encourage them to come here for a smile and gentle reminder that happiness is one decision away. The more people know about #jadorelavie, the more peace we can bring to each other’s lives. How’s that for a holiday gift?

    Stay lovely,
    Heather
